Also Steve didn't look so refined earlier. I found beetles in the apartment, so I went to town. Oh, fun fact: Rubber trees attract beetles.

You should have asked Ronan to bring Chainsaw over. I'm sure she would have had a field day with the beetles.

Yeah, Steve. Maybe some other plants, too? But it's starting to get late in the season, and I don't think I have room for another tree.

I've never really thought of plants as being lonely, but... I suppose it does look a little lonely over there. Do you think my mint plant is lonely? Maybe they can hang out together.

You have a ton of those mint plants stashed around Monmouth. If you weren't allergic to bees, you could probably breed them.

He'll go home eventually. He's only staying here until... his mother gets back, I suppose? Ronan only gave me pieces of the story. She got taken away.

Taken where? [Taken away could be anything. Hell, he could be in foster care, or his mother might not want to come back.]

I think to a psych ward. Apparently she wasn't doing very well. Ronan said someone else took guardianship of Kavinsky, but he's still allowed to stay in his home. I'm not sure how they got around all that. Ronan didnt want him there alone, though. It's why he's been here and in school every day. I think it's part of some deal. I don't know.

There's a chance she might not come back.

But if I ask Ronan to tell Kavinsky that he can't stay, then... I'm worried that Ronan will leave as well. They've been going to the Barns a lot. And I understand that, I do, but I don't want Ronan to leave Monmouth.

I get it. I do. I just hate that our lives revolve around him now.

I do too, believe me. But what else can we do? You can just come to Monmouth anyway. It's not that bad, it really isn't.

You know I can't. I can barely talk to him with the limited contact I do have. [Not when Kavinsky already has an idea of what went on between him and Ronan. Not when he's constantly challenging everyone on every little thing. Not when he'll constantly be reminded that he was left in the dust again.]

You don't even think that's true anymore. If you kick out Kavinsky, we lose Lynch. You said it yourself.
