[Kavinsky smirks and snatches the paper away and goes to flop on the couch to read it]

Oh god, this is so deep. I think it's changed my life forever.

[He rolls his eyes and holds it out again] I don't want to read anymore, just tell it to me.

Once upon a time, a woman thought the human ideal should be someone who eschews emotionality and attachment in order to work for what they desire, damn everyone else in the process as long as you work for what makes you happy.

So basically, fuck everyone and get what you want.

Through hard work, yes.

And... you agree with that?

Hm. [He snatches the paper back and keeps reading] Grab me beer while I read this shit? The bathroom kitchen should be dry by now.

[He rolls his eyes but goes anyway. He comes back with a cherry cola and a beer, handing the desired item off to Kavinsky.] What happened in there?

[Kavinsky takes the beer and cracks it open with a smirk] Someone exploded the pipes or something. There was major leakage.

Then I tried to get something from your crazy fucking forest and the bitch attacked me.

It's probably predisposed to attacking you. It knows who you are now, so asking it needs to be quick and to the point. And if it refuses, you'll have to be fine with that.

How about I just tell it to suck my dick? [He drinks some more beer, then turns his attention back to Adam's paper] You missed a couple commas and you have a run on sentence. Some colorful language would probably make it more interesting, too.

[He ignores the Cabeswater comment and settles down in his accustomed chair.]

This is Ayn Rand. You'll need an entirely new language to make Rand actually interesting.

I'm surprised you even agree with this. Sounds more like something I'd write about, not you.

And your way isn't what she was about. [He takes a drink from his soda and gestures to the paper.] Her stories were about true grit and taking the path of most resistance. Lifting yourself up from the sweat of your brow out of nothing to make it to what you want to be.

So you're telling me that she only writes for poor people?

I'm telling you that until recently, you never actually had to work for what you wanted. It's been given to you, or you stole it from your dreams. Where's the worth in that?

At any rate, she was unrealistic about her ideas.

There's plenty of fucking worth in it. [Except that was the problem, for the most part. Nothing had worth, nothing meant anything] You think stealing shit is easy? [He holds up his bandaged palms to show Adam] This is bullshit. This is what's not worth it.

So after all that, she was full of shit.

Then work with it or find something else, Dagny. The world isn't gong to change for you.

Not full of shit so much as her ideals conflicted with what actually goes on in the real world. She strove for emotional suppression if it meant they got in your way, and the people she wrote about were always in the right, and everyone loved them for it.

Yeah, that's easy for you to fucking say. It's a lot easier going through life without something, than having it and then having it ripped away.
