[Kavinsky gives him a satisfied look] Is that supposed to be a Honda? For real? It's unidentifiable at this point.

Okay, so... I almost stopped reading the book cause it was right in the beginning and I was like, why the fuck would I go through all the trouble... [He looks at the coke like Adam is crazy, but he grabs it anyway] You need beer in there. Anyway, so there's that guy and he finds those manuscripts and by the time he's done trying to figure it out, everything's changed and nothing old will work anymore.

That's because it's...several different types of Honda. And maybe a Toyota. I'm kind of scared to see just how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Alright. [He nods, genuinely surprised Kavinsky actually gave it a go, but not wanting to ruin the moment, says nothing on that.] Keep going.

[fucking_kavinsky]

That's fucking crazy. We should take it apart. [We? Yes, we. He's like a kid when it comes to getting attention and Adam's giving it to him, so he's taking it]

So he's talking about coping mechanisms, right? For all the change going on. And awareness. And... you're not the person you once were because of this awareness that something or someone gave you. And... that's as far as I got. Is that even remotely okay?

We're not taking it apart. [At least not until he has some time alone. He still hasn't listened to the tape, and Ronan insisted when he brought it up.]

[He fixes Kavinsky with an odd look.] I didn't say anything about making you leave. [Recently.]

I read a book, I'd say that qualifies as trying.

[He eyes Adam, then nods] Good, cause I'm not. Besides, Lynch would fight for me.

[Adam's face scrunches in frustration, going back and forth for a moment until he finally comes clean with it.]

Look. I lo-like Ronan, too, okay? You have to be blind not to see it by now. That doesn't mean I'm going to try and steal him from you, or whatever it is you're thinking right now. We're friends. Just that.

[fucking_kavinsky]

[Kavinsky crosses his arms over his chest, rather defensively, but he doesn't start hurling insults, or posturing. Ronan wants him to get along with all of them, and he sees how much they all have each other's backs, how much they all stick up for each other.

Deep down he kinda wants that, and Adam really doesn't seem like the stealing type... which then has him realizing that he might even trust the guy, so he shrugs, then nods] Okay. As long as that's how shit stays.

[leylined]

[Adam's still watching him quietly, trying to take him apart and figure out the pieces without actually doing that physically.]

Alright. I'd appreciate you stop with the little comments, too. It's hard enough trying to get over him without you trying to rub it in.

[fucking_kavinsky]

What comments? I don't make any fucking comments.

I'm not gonna not talk about him. And if you live here now, you might wanna get used to seeing shit around you. I'm just sayin' facts here, Parrish. Not trying to rub it in. [Though with Kavinksy, it's bound to happen sooner or later]

You do it all the time! You talk like you're the only person that has a right to him and his time, and any time someone tries to contradict that, you go around and start saying no one knows the real him except you. You explicitly bring up the fact that you two are fucking any time someone says something you don't like. If that's not the definition of rubbing it in, I don't know what is! [Sorry for the word vomit, Kavinsky. He's been holding this in for a while now.]

I can get over you two being intimate. Hell, I'd never talk to you if that wasn't the case. But the stuff you say makes it goddamn impossible for me to get over the fact that he chose you sometimes.

[Kavinsky narrows his eyes, because word vomit puts him on the defensive] Parrish, I've never once tried to talk him out of, or told him not to go hang out with you losers. I never fucking said I should have all of his time. And hey, guess what? No one fucking knows him the way I do, so get over it. And I like talking about fucking him. Boofuckinghoo. I'm stating facts, not rubbing it in. And you know what? Maybe sometimes you assholes deserve it, if I do happen to say something like that.

[Sometimes Adam's got it- this way of shutting Kavinsky up, with the way he words things. So after his own word vomit and what Adam just said, he shuts up]

Alright, fine. I'll try to lay off. But I'm not making any promises.

[leylined]

That's all I'm asking. [He moves to go to his room, then remembers that he actually hasn't had a room set up for him yet, so he stalks over to one of the couches and plops down there.]

[fucking_kavinsky]

[Kavinsky watches him, then switches out his soda for a beer, putting one down next to Adam, too. Just in case] I used to think he had to pick between me and all of you. I didn't think you guys would ever be ok with me being around.

But I guess it doesn't have to be that way, so I'm here, and I don't tell him to stop being friends with any of you. Not even after I found out about you and him. I never asked him to stop, just so you know.

[leylined]

[Adam's fist clench for a moment, and he begins to recognize that spurt of anger, that flash that would destroy everything that the two had just worked out, and for a moment Adam feels lost. He can't hide anywhere and he can't lash out. Instead he feels the prickle of Cabeswater over his skin and lets himself get lost in that smell of mist and moss that always heralds it.]

We would have, maybe. Or it would have been easier at least if things happened differently.

And I think I might have asked him to stop. Once, when I first found out. But how would you have reacted to that in my shoes?

[He's pretty sure he knows what things happening differently means and after Blue's outburst on him this weekend... hell, even before that, he's had no disillusion on how much they dislike him]

He didn't choose me at first, because of all of you. So that part already happened once. Things almost happened very differently and it would have been so much easier for all of you if I had just been gone. But I'm not. And that's too fucking bad for all of you.

We'd never be in each other's shoes, Parrish.

[Adam looks back at Kavinsky, shocked.]

I didn't mean it that way. What I meant was if you hadn't kidnapped Matthew and drained the ley line we could maybe have had an easier time accepting you at first.
