Haha, Oh man, it's Kavinsky this time for the romantic drabbling. Let's see how this turns out. PS: More than a drabble but are any of these really the required length?

A year ago, six months ago, maybe even sooner, if one asked Adam if he and Kavinsky would ever be anything more than enemies, he would have laughed and gone into detail about why the interrogator was insane. Time, however, waits for no one. It came in increments. Complete disdain and mutual apathy for one another, followed by angered jealousy. Bitter rivalry, then a sliver of common ground. Circumstance coupled with acceptance. Tentative friendship to eternal bonds. These days, Adam couldn't see his life without Kavinsky in it somehow.

But as time waits for no one, neither does change. He'd come to Aglionby for a reason, and as the summer, his last summer, closed, he was back on that track. No threat of his best friend's death, or misunderstandings of life and his place in it. He could move on without regret.

Blue and Adam were understanding of his desires, for they were the same. Henrietta was only tolerable because of friends and family, and they outgrew this place. Gansey's concerns were abated because their chapter wasn't over just yet. Hopefully it never would be. Noah had simply wished him the best of luck. He had his own problems and was still trying to find a way to break it to the world that he was alive once more. Ronan refused to let go of him, their usual fights taking more meaning, lasting longer before they could stand to even look at one another. Kavinsky encouraged his actions many times over, surprising him that he'd take Adam's defense over Ronan's.

It was on that last day they gathered for the final time at Cabeswater. The six of them and no others, friends and comrades. Brothers and sisters. Lovers and companions all, in one way or another. They promised their return to this town when they could, however they could. Not separating until they returned to Monmouth, Blue heading home with Noah to be driven across the country for her ecology school, Gansey and Adam loading up the Pig with their own gear, and Ronan and Kavinsky promising to follow behind in a few days with the Batmobile.

Gansey and Ronan were absorbed in talk of their own, Ronan drinking as Gansey laid out the last piece of Henrietta. Cabeswater itself, a myriad of miniature trees made of all kinds of things. Adam watched from a distance reverently as Kavinsky sidled up to him, watching as well.

"You're going to be coming back eventually, right?" The tone was nonchalant, but Adam had gotten to know the other too well. The way he refused to look at Adam. The fact that he asked in the first place told him he cared way more than anyone was willing to guess.

"I don't know," Adam responded truthfully. "Maybe." Kavinsky nodded in the corner of his vision and Adam stayed quiet, enjoying the silence until he saw a shift. Before he could react, Kavinsky had his jaw turned, tilted up so that Adam was forced to see him. The kiss was rough, brief, and just as forceful as everything else Adam attributed to Kavinsky, and it was over just as quickly. If it weren't for the sting on Adam's lower lip, he could have imagined it.

"Come back," Kavinsky said after the fact, as Adam still tried processing things.
