Valentine's Drabble 4/Also Drabble Challenge: Sick, featuring Drew/Adam
More love stuff! This time involving someone not in TRC books!
There had been a burning question in Adam's mind for some time now regarding Andrew Armstrong, the shape shifter who over time had become..something to Adam, though what that was, he still had trouble pegging down. It wasn't about ley lines or sleeping kings or who deserved what favor where. No, this one had a far more pressing concern for Adam.
Where the hell did he work?
Especially today, of all days. Adam was a notoriously awful bed patient, incapable of sitting down and recuperating, even at his most dire of times. Usually he got a pass from the others, but after a frighteningly close call in the past, Gansey immediately forced Adam back into bed after discovering he was running a fever. Adam normally would have waited for Gansey to leave and then either circumvent his authority by returning to school anyway or trying to work on one of Monmouth's many, many faults.
Instead he found himself drifting off before Gansey even managed to leave, waking up to Gunnar on one side of him and another enormous dog planted on the other and on his chest. Adam almost freaked, but the creature in question huffed as a silvery sheen passed over it, melding and shifting until it turned into one Drew Armstrong. "Hey, baby."
"How are you even here right now? Gansey's going to freak!" Adam explained as he tried to sit up, only to be caught by Drew.
"Slow down, there. Grumpy Bear. Your buddy's the one who called me up. Said you were sick as, well, a dog." He grinned wryly. "Said you were a flight risk, so I'm your warden until you feel better."
"Don't you have a job?" Adam grumbled as he reluctantly lay back.
Drew laughed and placed a kiss on his forehead. "Yeah. It's making sure dumbass magic users don't kill themselves. And until you get better, I guess that means you, too." Moving slowly, he pulled Adam's legs up until they were twined around his torso. "And I can't get sick. So, what do you say? Wanna work out that fever?"
Adam blushed, but didn't pull away. The mystery of Drew's true job could be found out later.
